It’s a rare “anything goes” week over at Simon Says Stamp & Show! This means that you can do absolutely anything you like for the challenge – there are no rules. Ok well there are a few rules like it needs to be a new creation, you must post a link directly to project, etc… but creatively speaking the field is WIDE open! So be sure to visit the blog to see all of the other creations and to enter. This week’s prize (as always) is a $50 voucher to Simon Says Stamp! The winner is randomly drawn – you can enter by posting to your blog, flickr, or other site too. See the blog for entry details and rules as usual.
So, what did I make this week? I decided to cut loose and get WILD with my Claudine Hellmuth multi-medium and Dylusions ink sprays!
To create the base I took a sheet of manila cardstock (because it is nice and heavy and will work well for this technique) and I used glossy multi-medium and a floral stencil to create a background design.
Now the hardest part – let it dry. Once dry the glossy multi-medium will resist most inks, sprays, and other mediums you would add to color which is cool, plus the raised texture is always fun on projects. Once it is dry, go wild with the Dylusions sprays! Well let me clarify – you want to use enough color to coat, but don’t soak the paper all the way through.
Once your paper is covered in colorful spray and the colors are blending, blot with a paper towel to remove the excess. Then spray with the white Dylusions spray to tone down the colors. I *love* doing this on projects and how the results give me a much softer look!
I love how fun this background was to make, and how with just a few stamps and minimal accents this layout came together! This technique would be great on cards, tags, and canvases too so if you’re not a scrapbooker multi-medium is definitely something you want to try out!
speaking of multi-medium – don’t forget Claudine Hellmuth’s class starts soon!
I’m excited to be a contributor in this class, and I can’t wait to see all the great techniques she has for us to try.
We are in the grips of a BIG summer heat wave, and the upside of that is that all of my liquid mediums are drying super fast… silver linings, right?
Here are the supplies used for this layout:
Hope you join us in the Stamp & Show challenge this week too – happy crafting!
Fabulous stencilled texture, and I love the muted colours – delicious!

Beautiful layout May! Love the textured and misted background, The white mist adds such a nice touch.
May, your layout is so cute. Love the glossy medium stenciled flowers. Very retro and very sweet on either side of your adorable photograph. The Dylusions sprays softened with the white are so pretty and create a beautiful background! Love it! <3 Candy
Love your layout.
I was so taken by the stencil, I missed the stamping! I thought it was going to be a card – what a great idea for a scrapbook page!
Lovely CAS layout May, particularly love the multi-medium through the stencil. Lovely colours too. Sometimes less is more. Tracy x

Love this technique! So beautiful the colors. Great idea with the white, dylusions is a favorite ink of mine but they are really dark at times.
I never thought to use Multi Medium in a stencil like that…brilliant! Love the look! The White Dylusions gave a glorious pastel look to this as well! Just amazing!
