Kids corner: February 2013

About once a month I will check in and share some crafty ideas + kid friendly fun! To kick things off, Miss Rebecca is sharing.

The big project here at the girls table lately has been decorating large wood shapes from the craft store. These are great because they give a starting point/shape, they’re cheap, and the girls can use any of the supplies they might have to decorate and make a lovely hanging for their walls! (these would be great as gifts too – so fun.

Watercolors, acrylic paints, glitter, glue, and all kinds of other things came out to play! What I love about this is that it gives the girls a starting place, but encourages total freedom and creativity. They love that it is an outlet for all the messy fun they want to have.

As you can see – Miss Rebecca made some beautiful creations! The girls have requested more of these shapes to create gifts (for Mother’s Day for various aunts, etc) and I think it is going to be great fun for them as well as the recipients.

Before I go for today – Rebecca also wants to share her current two favorite book recommendations!

Fancy Nancy Secret Admirer and Mia The Sweetest Valentine (any Mia book, really!) are currently her favorite to read with me. We are very into books about fancy young ladies (and cats?), clearly.

Next month I’ll be back with a book give-away, and some artwork featuring Miss Elizabeth. Happy Crafting – no matter what your age!
