I love the colors you use, it’s make the projects so sweet !!!

Love is in the air and Simon Says Stamp has made it even more fun to create projects to show someone that love with their 2013 Valentine’s Day Release. I was asked to create a project using something from this release to share in today’s Valentine’s Day Blog Hop.

SSS_ValDayBlogHop (2)

First, I made a video. I am just checking out, brainstorming, and generally getting inspired by these great new products. [link to youtube]

So first, the card I was working on didn’t work the way I wanted (I made some regretable color choices – haha)

028

That’s ok! While it looks cute in this close-up trust me the finished card wasn’t cute. That is why I warm-up with no pressure though! Just let myself try some ideas, see what happens, then get serious.

Speaking of serious – I’m NOT going to forget my anniversary again this year! So, I made a card…

021

One of my favorite things to do right now is to make a block of loads of little stamps. I just load them all up on my acrylic block and arrange them, then stamp!

031

SO much fun making that card! I could stop now… but as long as I have all these stamps and dies out on my desk…

002

Let’s scrapbook!
006

I had fun using these stamps + dies with the FABULOUS February papers and things in the Simon Says Stamp card kit. This one is one of my faves for sure.

Oh and I’m so madly in love with the little heart dies! I want to make strips of paper (seen below) all day long with them.
015

Here’s a list of the supplies I used in my projects seen today:

017
You’ve seen my projects – now Simon has something to say and a prize to give!!

  11. Love the “subway art” look of your cards. And your scrapbook page is wonderful. Love the border idea–I have to try that.

  12. First thanks for your honesty. It is refreshing to know that the all stars aren’t always perfect, even if it looks good to me. Second totally using the idea of arranging little stamps on an acrylic block. Perfect way to get that subway art type look.

  17. May, I love how you figured out the dies coordinate perfectly with the little hearts from our February Simon Says Stamp card kit. What a cool effect you created here. Such jumbo sized inspiration and ideas. The color patterns on your first card are really cool even if you don’t like the finished card:)

FUN IDEAS! Thank you for exploring your art with our Simon products and sharing with us!

  18. Ha, you know us so well. I was about to leave a comment telling you that the top card was really pretty with the color you used…then you called me out on it before I even typed one letter. I love the idea of making the collage stamp using smaller stamps. I have seen that idea before but had completely forgot it. I have a bunch of terrific stamps from Rhonna and House of 3 that will be perfect for this technique.

Your video has my fingers itching for some of these dies and stamps. Great projects, love your die cut mini heart banner. I need that die.

  101. Love to see your thought process and the video introducing the new line was great. I sort of like your “botched” card…even if you weren’t happy with the end result. I often do a “recycled” version before I find one that I am happy with…glad it’s not just me. Thanks for sharing!

  104. I really love your card and layout. Also seeing your creative process is nice. Glad I am not the only one who makes a mess of a card when trying to create.

  105. To be honest same I was looking for a bigger picture of your 1st one and that little detailed on what you have taken the card looks really nice. Might be for my eyes nice since I didn’t make it 1st of all and 2nd I really love watercolors and that has watercolor effect on it. But lets cut to the point about 2nd one. Like how you used little dots and made them around the border and not so sharp like fades in. Blacked striped string looks so nice on it. You made good job with scrapbook page as well. Not my thing scrapbooking but it’s so amazing what people make and come up with. Keep up your nice work : )

  106. Wow! that anniversary card for your hubby is beautiful! I love how youloaded up the acrylic block with stamps, fabulous! The layout of Miss E is stunning. She is turning into a gorgeous young lady.

  168. Very good idea to use many stamps at once. I am going to try this for sure.
Thanks for the good ideas and for the chance to win.

  169. Oh, there are so many new fabulous goodies from SSS…just in time for Valentine’s Day. IMO, your first card isn’t a flop and neither are your other creations. Your scrapbook page is very sweet with your DD, and I’m in love with your subway art card. Great job, May!

  170. The anniversary card is gorgeous but I have to admit that the peek on the “failed” card looks quite nice to me. Thanks for sharing

  171. Ooh, I love them all. The cats are adorable. Thanks for the video. Love your layout. Got to get stamping!

  172. I love the hot pink you used in your Anniversary card. You did a wonderful job using SimonSays collection. Keep up the great work!

  173. So happy to hear you say that not all your cards turn out looking as good as they did in your mind. Even after a few years of crafting, this still happens to me on occasions. Now, I learn to just put the card aside and move on. Often as not, an even better card pops out after the ‘not-so-great’ card and I get inspired again. I love your idea of using “block of loads of little stamps” which I must try very soon. Thanks for sharing your creative passion with us today.

  174. Your projects are lovely. I also enjoy putting a bunch of stamps on a block and stamping. It always looks great. Thank you so much for the inspiration. By the way, I loved the card you didn’t like. Lol! Take care. 🙂

  175. I was just wondering what to do with all the little Valentine’s stamps I’ve accumulated over the years and how to make them seem fresh. Your idea of putting them on a block makes so much sense. I can’t wait to try it out. I really enjoy your blog, by the way.

  176. Great projects! And thanks for taking the time to make a video showing the new SSS products.

  177. Hi May, Thank you so much for the block stamping idea. I can’t tell you how much time this is going to save me! I can’t believe I didn’t think of it myself. I have mounted all my mini stamps into their own mini mounts & have been stamping them all individually 😉

  178. Lovely card. I like the colors and all those words. It’s inspiring to see the same stamps being used in so many different and beautiful projects. Thank you.

  179. So cute and colorful! I can’t imagine how much fun that would be to get all that new stuff at once to play with! Thanks for sharing your card I really liked it.

  180. Your card is very beautiful. I have seen this with many little stamps in a few places now, I think I have to try it:) perfect stamps to do it with! hoping on!

  181. Maybe you should show us the whole picture and get some second opinions! Looks like a number of us think it is better than you think. Also love those strips of hearts you came up with.

  182. Really lovin’ these valentine’s stamps. Your card is really cute and your scrapbook page is AMAZING! There’s so much color and detail, love it, love it, love it!

  183. as I said in the post – I was able to get a nice shot at an angle… and that’s it. My shot covers the messed up stamping, the upside down stamp, the accidental neon, and the other “oh noes” that ruined that card.

  184. I really like the anniversary card, that hot pink is just gorgeous. And half of my cards don’t turn out as I envisioned! but I don’t really mind because I still got to play with glue and ink! 😀

  185. I’m going to try your idea of putting many stamps on a single block. I love the way yours’ looks!

  186. I love the card with the black and white twine. Twine is my new favorite embellishment to play with! Thanks for sharing.

  187. Wow, you have been very busy, I love all that you have shown us, and you are a girl after my own heart, you obviously do not mind getting dirty! LOL!! xxx
