Friday list: 5 kits

I mentioned a few kits last Friday in my link-up and I thought… what if this Friday I did a kit related list? Yep, I like it. So here are five great kits to consider.

1. Studio Calico.

Known for their outstanding kits, and now they have card kits too, Studio Calico is always a kit club I recommend, and has been for years. Right now they’re taking pre-orders on an exclusive Ali Edwards December Daily kit. Here’s the info on that:

Record all of your magical December memories with Ali Edwards and Studio Calico! This year, we’re mixing traditional red, green and gold with a bit of modern aqua, grey and yellow from a variety of manufacturers including Studio Calico, Basic Grey, Crate Paper and Echo Park. We started with an exclusive 6×6 pad of 24 different paper designs, then brought in just the right embellishments – from washi tape to label stickers to veneer, enamel dots and more – to let you finish this 4×6 album in style. It wouldn’t be a Studio Calico kit without stamps, and Ali Edwards has designed a 4×6 set from Technique Tuesday exclusively for this album. ‘Tis the season for documenting all the merry, and we can’t wait to help you capture every moment. All December Daily kits will ship early November to allow plenty of transit time before the holiday season begins!

I’m loving their color choices, and all those festive details too. You can sign up for the pre-order and see more images here.

2. Basic Grey Soleil collection kit.

Yes, I consider the manufacturer collection packages to be kits. They’re excellent! Whether you go 6×6 paper pad or full collection kit! Personally, if you really love a line I’m all for the kit. You get the papers, some stickers- and it all coordinates perfectly! Soleil is a line I’ve been playing a LOT with lately, and I’ve just ordered a few more pieces so I can keep the Soleil fun going! It is available in stores now. You can find Soleil online at bluemoonscrapbooking, 2peas, and simonsaysstamp.

3. Lily Bee Persnickety

I’m loving all three of the new lines from Lily Bee, but I’m thinking Persnickety is the perfect blend of colors to do all kinds of scrapbooking with.

4. JBS Mercantile

Still a totally unique look and amazing kit and vintage material source – can’t have this list without Jenni Bowlin on it! I love that Jenni Bowlin products – and kits- always blend well with past products, and future releases as well. The harmony means that anything I buy from JBS is guaranteed to have a nice long healthy shelf life – and won’t be going out of style. From the limited edition to the true vintage finds, kits to papers – I’m loving it all. This month’s kit looks like a lot of vintage fun – just check out that stencil!

5. Simon Says Stamp card kit

With an exclusive stamp set (and other exclusives!), not to mention that you can always buy the kit once revealed (vs committing in advance), and that the kits are designed by people who definitely know their stamping and cards, this is another favorite. Stay tuned tomorrow for projects I’ve made with their latest kit- and the chance to win one!

Now what I’d really love to know is this – what are your favorite pre-made kits? It could be a scrapbooking line you can’t get enough of, a small embellishment kit source, kit club, or anything in between! Since we’re making a kit list I can tell you from experience I also really have had great experiences with Elle’s Studio, Scrapbook Circle, Scrap-Room, Evalicious, and Scarlet Lime for kits (some are regular ‘kit clubs’ some offer random kits) as well. I’m also loving October Afternoon’s Woodland Park, Rhonna Farrer’s Christmas line, Heidi Swapp’s Vintage Chic line, Glitz Designs Cashmere Dame line, and… yeah. I’d love to have a kit of any of those!

I look forward to hearing your favorites, perhaps adding a few new ones to my list as well!

Have a happy craft filled weekend!

  1. I’ve only tried a few kits, but I really like Cocoa Daisy, Polka Dot Whimsy and Critrus Twist.

  2. May, I’m loving Gossamer Blue, a new kit club started last month. I love what Lori has been coming up with! Cocoa Daisy is also awesome!

  3. I am really loving my Cocoa Daisy kits! I wasn’t sure I was a kit kinda gal but Christine rocks her kits with lots of combinations of the cute new stuff and mixes it up for me!

  4. I enjoy the Simon Says Stamp card kit – I almost always get things that I would never buy myself — hence, a challenge every month. And I really like the October Afternoon collection kits – I just got the new Witch Hazel one and can hardly wait to cut into it.

  5. I am on my 3rd month as a Studio Calico kit subscriber and am so happy, I do Cocoa Daisy stamp kit and I have been eyeing Freckled Fawns OhDeerMe kits, I love that they are featuring different Etsy sellers in their kits. Have a great weekend May!

  6. I too love the Persnickety collection from Lily Bee. I thought all of the Hallowe’en collections presented at CHA last summer were great, but I was really drawn to My Mind’s Eye Lost & Found Hallowe’en because of the glitter and the muted colours.

  7. Hi! My two cents: My Mind’s Eye Indie Chic – I got a few of those collections, Little Black Dress Kit Club (nice for vintage items in kits), I like Noel Mignon -though I have never subscribed- a LOT of product in the kits and the price does reflect this, though it is a good deal – but, a bit too much product for someone with a massive stash-though I’d recommend to someone who loves to scrap but has little product right now. There are still quite a few scrap kits out there. Club Scrap is the original kit club and I like them. Watch their site for sales of recent kits – quite a good deal at times. They are different and sometimes just what one needs.

  8. I am so lovin this post! I have not jumped off the cliff on actual kit clubs….I must be a control freak or something . I have been eyeing Cocoa Daisy, Flying Unicorn, and Scraps of Darkness/Elegance. When at my local scrap store, I will purchase an entire kit if available. I usually gravitate towards Bo Bunny, Prima, and Basic Grey kits…and ALWAYS Graphic 45.! 🙂 🙂 I have been dabbling into American Crafts and Studio Calico recently and have really enjoyed their entire lines. I think the only reason I have not joined a kit club is the commitment.

  9. I subscribed to the Simon Says Stamp card kit club, and am thrilled when it arrives. I have really liked everything. I’m seriously thinking of a scrapbooking kit, looking at Studio Calico & Cocoa Daisy.

  10. I love Studio Calico kits. It is so different from what I would normally buy so I am challenged every month.

  11. I’m loving the Simon Says Stamp kit, too! 🙂 Just the right amount without being overwelming. I also like Club Scrap, but I’m on hiatus till I catch up on more kits. I have a HUGE stack of them. Hopefully I can use some in class!

  12. I would love to win this kit. I am taking your kit class and loved the info on the nuetral colors and contrast. Thanks for the chance to win.

  13. My favourite kit club is “The Scrap Room” – I’ve been a subscriber for around 5 years. I like that each month I get 4 different paper lines plus embellishments to match

  14. I’m not a member of a kit club, nor is there a particular brand I like. As a US Military Spouse living overseas, I’m limited to shopping online. As a beginning scrapper, I find that kits are quite helpful at getting a lot of different stuff at a more reasonable price. So I look for kits that give me the most bang for my buck, and in various themes and color schemes. This way I can mix & match the kits that come!

  15. I have been a Cocoa Daisy member for more than a year and I LOVE the kits. They always contain lots of paper, embellishments and fund things that I actually USE. It also forces me to try new things and the best is getting to see what other did with the kits.
