SSS March Kit

Did you know Simon Says Stamp has a monthly card kit? I like that it’s not huge, I appreciate the fun details, and the March kit has a lot of cool goodies too – here’s a photo:

So what would I, a crafter not known for her card skillz (though I do try my hand at them on occasion!), do with a card kit?  When they asked me if I’d like to play with one + blog my projects I was intrigued by the challenge, and took a time out from scheduled crafting to play…

This is the first tag I made. Very straight forward paper covering a tag (that was in kit), and a bit of stamping and light embellishing.

I do love making tags, and I decided to use some of the 6×6 papers from this kit to make a torn/pieced together tag. Here you can see how I layered the strips.

Then I cut off all the excess from the tag, and then inked the edges, misted, and added a few little touches…

Here’s a detail shot.

I really love how this tag turned out too. My next thought was, can I take this card kit and turn it into a layout? Of course! Because I use a lot of bits and pieces of papers on my layouts the 6×6 patterns were great.

it didn’t turn out how I planned (but that’s ok) – but I used a shell stencil on my page + gold acrylic paint.

For my title, I applied gold paint over letter stickers then removed the letter stickers as shown below.

I really love this aqua baker’s twine. Well actually, every piece of this kit was lovely from the little ink pad to the papers and stamps from the new Rhonna Farrer collection! I hope you enjoyed my look at this kit – you can check it out here if you’d like.
