Heidi Swapp card

One of my favorite products is the fotostack staggered paper albums – and while I think they are absolutely awesome as-is to create a mini book – I’ve never used on quite like that. In fact- I relish tearing them apart and using the pages separately on projects! I use the individual pages like crazy! As page accents, for journaling, on bigger books – love ’em.

Today I misted on one (small) page, and mounted it onto a large one that I’d folded in 1/2 to create a card. A bit of ink, some color magic + misted (pink) goodness, and a few stickers and I have a thank you card ready to go!

I do love creative play – and how these neutral products can become anything I want or need! I’m currently working another page into a mini book and a different layout – to be seen soon!

Heidi Swapp Color Shine video + layout

My Heidi Swapp creative journey continues, and today I’ve created a video to share the how-to on my misting with stencils that I used on this layout.

I’m finding the Color Shine mists to be FANTASTIC with stencils! It’s early days, but they may be my #1 favorite mists with stencils in the near future! The formula and consistency just is perfect.

As you can see, I’m having an awful lot of fun over here!

Happy [Wednesday] Crafting!!

Heidi Swapp: keepin’ it simple.

One thing I’m loving abut the Heidi Swapp product line is that it can be super funky and layered and technique filled… or it can be really simple. I can just tell a story, and use some of the products to compliment my story and photos.

On this page, I did mist the title letters (gotta love that customization!) and the rest, was even simpler. A little mist on the background, a bit of distress stickles to accent.

Photos are 3×6 and 3 x 2 1/2, and all the product (except distress stickles) is Heidi Swapp. Here are links to the supplies I used:

Now that you’ve seen a simple page, my next step will be kicking it up a few notches- and I’ll have a video to share as well. I’ve got a mind full of ideas, and a lot more still to share…

Heidi Swapp Color Shine

October is my favorite month, and not just for the cooling weather and fall details… but also because crafting supplies are hitting stores! Things I’ve been longing for like the new Heidi Swapp collection! This week, because Heidi Swapp’s summer 2012 collection absolutely ROCKED and I want to feature it in big ways, I’m going to be featuring her products.

First, a look at her new Color Shine mists:

They come in twelve colors, above are the four that I currently own. Georgia Peach (orange, I know!) is my favorite… except when Chartreuse is my favorite. I just adore these colors and how they manage to be so wonderfully vibrant, but muted enough for everyday use and not over the top or neon or anything. Tropicana Teal and Primrose are quickly becoming favorites as well, and to be perfectly honest I may need to add more to my collection sooner than later – especially gold for the upcoming holiday season!

So, what can you do with these mists? Well, you can do all the general stuff:

  • directly mist onto paper
  • use with resist paper products such as Heidi’s Color Magic letters and papers
  • use with a stencil
  • use multiple colors on a tag/paper to create a super sparkly swirl of color
  • use with a stamp (mist onto mat, then ‘stamp’ into mist, then stamp your project)
  • use with a paintbrush for detail or as a colorwash look

Here are some photos of things I’ve done so far:

Clockwise from top left: use with stencil, spray multiple colors onto a tag, color various notes (color magic line) with a ink, and finally you can see how I’ve misted some color magic paper (just need to wipe off excess).

Where do these mists fall into the mist spectrum and why would you want them? The colors are lovely and incredibly useful, and they are very sparkly especially when paper is saturated. The mists aren’t completely opaque, but they will add some color and sparkle even over darker colors. Below you can see a piece of paper that was misted (in the middle) with Color Shine:

The incredibly useful colors is what has me sold. They go perfectly with a lot of lines that I have, and they are classic colors that will remain useful too. If I’m looking for a bit of color + sparkle, these will be my go-to mists for sure. I’m having a blast playing with them and experimenting with various looks and adding color + sparkle to my projects.

Heidi Swapp Color Shine mists are available in 12 colors, and are in stores now. You can find them on-line at Simon Says Stamp, Blue Moon Scrapbooking, 2peas, and Scrapbook.com

Stay tuned all week for projects, tutorials, and more featuring color shine and all kinds of new Heidi Swapp products!
