challenge: Your Favorite

New week… new challenge!! Head over immediately (if you’ve not done so already) and visit Simon Says Stamp & Show – we’re inspired by our favorites. That could mean ANYTHING! A favorite technique, product, idea, color… you name it! Just create something and enter it by posting it to flickr, your blog, or whatever for a chance to win. JOIN US! The rules + post can be found over at the Stamp & Show blog. You want to enter because it is fun, plus Simon Says Stamp gives away (randomly) a $50 voucher each week to one lucky entrant!!! You can get all the details at the blog here.

I took the “favorite” theme to the extreme – creating with favorite techniques, products, and colors!

How-to:

1. Stencil on color using distress ink + blending tool. Then use blending tool + distress to color background of tag.

2. Coat tag with rock candy, let dry. Then rub brown distress ink all over the tag, wiping off excess. After that, coat with PPA in matte finish to take away the shine.

3. Finish tag by adding (inked) chipboard, metal flowers, letters, and filmstrip.

Supplies Used:

That’s it – and that is my project for this week! I hope you enjoyed it – I’ll be doing a rock candy video next week – that stuff is such fun…

Happy Crafting!

  1. Love your project. Alas the craft store I was in over the weekend did not have any Rock Candy :-(. I really wanted to buy some after seeing your projects using it. They did not even have distress ink.

O.K. I’m thinking now of what I can create using a favorite as my theme. Going to try real hard to enter that challenge as it should be lots of fun.

  2. Love your tag, May. The background colors and designs are so pretty. Love the embellishments, too…the stars and Tim’s filmstrip ribbon rock! <3 Candy

  3. Lovely tag May, the background is great against those colourful stars. Love the added dimension from the stars and your use of natural twine against those wonderful colours in the background. Love the film strip ribbon too. Enjoy your week. Tracy x x

  4. The background is uber cool and the crackle add such a awesome texture over the surface. Beautiful accents with the chipboard stars . A beautiful distressed tag!

  5. That background is fabulous May! Love the colours and the great texture. Great idea to paint it with matte PPA to tone down the glossiness.

  6. May, I’ve been following your blog for a couple of months and truly enjoy seeing your beautiful art work everyday. Thank you so much for generously sharing details of your projects with all of us! I may not comment often, but please know that everyday I am saying thank you.

  7. Hi May,
    Love your tag!
I have tons of unused chipboard items. I’ve painted them and used them ‘naked’ because I’m not very good at covering it in paper. Do you have a tutorial or suggestions on the best way to do this?
I can’t imagine how you put the paper on those cute stars.
Oh wait, I probably have them in my stash..haha
    Julie

  8. Very pretty tag, although I might leave the matte medium out as I like the glossy look! Thanks for the inspiration.
