Merry Christmas! {prize inside}

Wishing you all the best for some super happy holidays!!!

One of our Disney World “holiday” shots… it was SO COLD!! We had sweaters, hats, and loads of layers on always. Not real photogenic mostly, but we were cozy.

Around the holidays we were big puzzle people when I was a kid. It was kinda cool – even in teen years I might come home from a party and work for a while with grandpa or a cousin, aunt, or mom… some people would stay up late working, other people just wander in & out picking up a piece or two. 🙂 I have fond memories of that, in fact last time we had a big family gathering here at my house several puzzles were done. Love it.

This 1000 piece puzzle is one I bought last summer. I also have a new (much smaller) puzzle that Elizabeth and Becca can help put together too. But the one above? I’m going to do it by myself this year (mostly)… that’s intentional. You see, I’m taking off for a while for some peace & quiet… or at least as much as a mom of 2 young girls can get. I’ll probably still be posting on Twitter & Facebook though… Oh and some books to read. and some creative PLAY. Ooh and baking. and quality family time. and general staring at wall and doing nothing because I can time. Ah, but I wouldn’t leave you without a gift.

I’ve been making some cards, and pairing them with some Girls’ Paperie chipboard letters (in a festive red) and sending out some post-Christmas happy mail sounds like a lot of fun. So if you’d like a homemade card + girls paperie surprise then leave a comment here! I’ll draw a winner when I return to blog-land around the 29th…

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!!

  11. I love your family christmas card – it’s wonderful. So glad to hear you are going to take some time off for yourself & family. Your humor will be sorely missed. Thank you for sharing all the info about photos and processing During my investigating I did find that going into a target store I had more options on sizes of photos but wouldn’t have found that information without asking one of the sales people. I wouldn’t recommend them for anything else. Enjoy your quiet time and I look forward to the new year and new adventures. Christmas Blessings, Robin

  12. We always did puzzles at my childhood home too!!! My mom and I were always working on one. I actually bought my son an DIL a puzzle this year for Christmas of a map of their home town with thier address right smack in the middle!!! I hope they let me help them put it together!!!! Have a wonderful Holiday with your family

  13. Love the Disney photo – and didn’t realise it got so cold in FL! Love that puzzle too. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!

  14. I have loved your reviews of photo developers. Very informative and I have tried each place at one time as well. Can’t wait to see your Disney scrapbook pages! Oh, and thanks for sharing some Girls Paperie!

  15. You know, this is a good idea. My family has always gotten together on New Year’s Eve and Day, and I took those on as my holiday to host. Today I was thinking about looking for some sort of thing to start doing this year as a tradition. With a new baby, I’m all about starting traditions. (She gets an ornament every year, like I did growing up. And now she’ll get christmas jammies every year on Christmas Eve.) Maybe pulling out a puzzle on New Year’s Eve would be cool to do. The only kid there now is mine, and as she gets older, we can do kid-friendly ones with her, too. I like this. I feel a trip to Target next week in preparation….

  16. Enjoy the time with your family. How wonderful to indulge in a bit of “me” time. Making puzzles, reading, baking, napping…what a great gift to give yourself. Enjoy!
    Happy Holidays –

  17. It’s one of our favourite school holiday traditions, to go to the Salvation Army shop and buy puzzles to do over the holidays for just a few dollars. This Christmas holidays we’re completing a 1000 piece puzzle of Mount Rushmore and being New Zealanders (living in Australia) it’s started a mission for us to learn about ‘the men on the mountain’.
    Happy puzzling!!

  18. love puzzles! My dad and I did very little together…but puzzles were the common denominator. Maybe that’s why….but my family all think I’m nuts for loving puzzles….wahhh!

  19. This looks like a beautiful puzzle! But I think it would drive me crazy if it was in my house!! Only because my 1-year old would want to try and eat the pieces and my 4-year-old would want to “help” me!!

  20. MERRY CHRISTMAS MAY! LOOKING FORWARD TO THE CREATIVE RETREAT! Thanks for the giveaway – enjoy your break and have a great time with your girls and hubby!

  25. There’s something very calming about working on puzzles. Enjoy your quiet time but I selfishly hope that it won’t be for long. 😉

  31. Merry Christmas May! Enjoy your family time, I’m looking forward to many of the same things as you, books, puzzles, and creative time.

  32. My favorite holiday was the one at my grandparents when we were stuck in the snow. No one else could get through so we did three huge puzzles on their long dining room table. Played other games too but it was a lot of fun and memorable for me. I still buy puzzles when I can even if I’m the only one in this family who enjoys them.

  33. I remember puzzles were big in ourr house, too; nowadays it’s mostly a cottage activity. I hope you had a blessed and peaceful Christmas, and enjoy your well deserved break.

  34. The Christmas season is a wonderful time to relax, reflect, enjoy family and friends and recall fond family memories. My family also did the puzzle thing, and I miss working on puzzles with my parents.
    Enjoy your time away.
I appreciate the opportunity to win. I LOVE happy mail and would love one of your handmade cards.
