Monday with May at Simon Says Stamp

London Market by Pink Paislee was love at first sight for me – and I’m excited to share two new projects over at Simon Says stamp today (link).

Honestly I love every. single. piece. of this line. True story! I’ve used it a lot in my spring local scrapbook store classes, and I love how it manages to be so detailed… and yet filled with a lot of great neutrals at the same time. The chipboard buttons are one of my very favorite things in the line.

Happy Monday everyone!

Mondays in May at SSS blog:

It’s the month of… May! As a part of “my” month, I’m doing a special series over at simonsaysstamp.com ‘s blog- “Mondays in May with May”!

I’m excited my friends at Simon invited me to play + share some favorite lines.

I hope you like the Monday inspiration!

Today the first post went up on the SSS blog – and I’m talking about my love of Amy Tangerine’s Sketchbook line and I have two all new projects to share as well.

You can find the sketchbook line, and all kinds of great goodies in their shop - and as always they’ve got great shipping rates and they’re quick.

product pick | Studio Calico pretty pink mist

Oh Mister Huey, when I want a solid no-sparkle color, you are my go-to mist. Today, I’ve got to tell you guys that the Studio Calico Mister Huey’s mist in Pretty Pink is a must. I LOVE the color. I’ve been misting it right onto my projects, but I’ve also been mixing it with stuff like molding paste (seen on tag below) to use with stencils and get more out of my new pink love.

It’s just the perfect spring pink. Bright without being neon, a nice tone that is lovely with blues, greens, aquas, and other pinks… and it fills a need I hadn’t realized that I had. LOVE.

One of my favorite things to do when I have random stuff or bits of extras left over is to just make a quick tag. This one started because I had some pretty pink mist + molding paste left over from another project (that you’ll see later this week) and so I smeared it over a stencil and onto a tag. You’ll  notice some sparkle above – it was misted with some glimmery mist after dry to add a bit of blue shimmer.

If you couldn’t already tell – I had a lovely time playing and whipping up this tag. I used cream paint in the letters (on metal plate) to make them stand out – then I wiped away the paint that was on the top (non-letters) part.

May’s pick | Color Magic by Heidi Swapp

Jenny McGee – you won the spot in Heidi Swapp’s upcoming Big Picture class!

This weekend I probably demonstrated (and sold for the store!) more of Heidi Swapp’s new Color Magic paper than anything else. I *LOVE* this paper. If you’ve used Mistables by Pink Paislee – it’s that same heavy excellent paper and I can’t suggest it to you enough.

Here’s why I love it:

* super sturdy/heavy paper that can take some major coloring without warping or tearing.

* amazing cute designs.

* use any color you’ve got to decorate and customize

* timeless! Will work with any other brand or line.

Here’s a video I created showing just a few ways to apply color and use these products:

Now here’s a layout I created with new Heidi Swapp papers & things:

Supplies:
Heidi Swapp Color Magic Paper pack, Color Magic Banners, and Color Magic Alphabet; Sugar Chic line ‘sparkle’ paper, memory file, label, no limits trimmings, disco arrows, (and misc. rhinestones and sequins)

Here are some detail photos…

Such a fun line, and I really love that the elements mix & match so easily.

I hope you’ve liked this look at one of my new favorites – I expect you’ll be seeing more of my projects with Heidi Swapp in future! It’s in stores now – happy crafting!

May’s pick | Hero Arts zig-zag background stamp

2012 is the year of the background stamp for me. I’m using them on any and everything in my path! There is one surprise though. If you’d asked me which of my stamps would be the most used, the most broken in, it wouldn’t have been this one. I’m not real into graphic looking stuff usually. Yet the simplicity and versatility of this one have proven themselves to me big time. This is a stamp I LOVE.

The Hero Arts Zig Zag stamp is ruling my stamping these last few months! It can be used so many ways, and it adds that subtle pattern and direction. Truly, I adore it.

I love layering it on as part of my background when building a tag, or stamping on a die cut. Above you can see it used with distress ink onto a damp tag (oh how I love the blended look it can get!)

Here I’ve used a distress marker to color just part of it. I’ve found myself stamping bits of it, like arrows really You cuold do any amount you like. You may notice my stamp is stained blue and green… well that’s because I use it with paint a ton too! Love the painted stamp look.

Finally here’s the first page I ever did with this stamp – using it to make my own patterned paper behind my photos. I have no doubt this stamp is going to be a favorite for a long while to come. I realize chevron pattern is something hot right now – but it’s also a classic zig-zag pattern and I don’t see it going anywhere in the near future. Like polka dots or stripes – it’s gonna be around.

Here’s a link to the stamp at simonsaysstamp.com – if you need enabling that is.

May’s Pick | Crafter’s Workshop stencils

I’ve been crafting a lot, and working on a lot of projects to share. A regular feature you’ll be seeing here on my blog is “May’s Pick”. Essentially this is a way I’ll be sharing favorite products that I’m using a lot. Not just pretty things to look at – but useful things! This week I pick a Balzer designs stencil.

Blue Moon Scrapbooking has a huge selection available of the new designs! I prefer the 6″ stencils, the size just works better on my projects, and I use them all the time. Today’s pick is the stars & circles stencil. Used as a stencil, or inked and then “stamped” onto paper the design has so many possibilities. I could see it with reds and blues for a patriotic look, greens and browns for an outdoors or more masculine look, or any number of combos! I know it’s going to become a favorite and highly used one for sure.

Watch for a new stencil video + project coming this Thursday. I’ve got a lot of projects to make and mess to make with my new treasures – I’ll be sure to share here (and if you’re in Field Guide you’ll see it there too!) soon!
