New Ranger Distress Minis, give away, and a video!

004

Oh happy Monday indeed! Today Ranger begins shipping three new sets of their Distress Ink mini ink pads!

011

Which set is my favorite? How did I create the backgrounds you see above? Here’s a video:

link to YouTube

015

I thought I would use the ‘patchwork’ tag base… I got to playing with layering color (via stencil) and such..

020

Then I changed my mind as I got stuck and wasn’t sure where to go next! So I set this aside and picked up a tag I’d started with set #9. I stenciled on a bit more stormy sky, added some stickers…

035

Then stitching. Because stitching in black always adds in more contrast and detail and texture. Oh, also? I love that when you’re stenciling and coloring you can TOTALLY layer on colors. THE SAME COLORS. And you’ll still see all the layers. How cool is that?

039

So all that color on and the stickers secured and it was time to play with trinkets and treasures.

040

Oh, and dye some ribbon with that lovely stormy sky ink for the top!

043

Just a bit of tarnished brass paint for effect- you know I love my metallics!

046

Then some word stickers (because they make everything better)

063

070

And we’re just about done!

075

I just love all the details and fun technique I was able to get with these mini ink pads. I hope you’ve enjoyed both my video and the project tutorial here on my blog.

  168. This is the first video of yours that I came across and I loved it! Such great techniques. My favorite was the stamped tag.

  169. It would be so awesome to win some distress mini ink pads. I’ve tried some of the techniques demoed on the various sites with stencil using larger pads and such it it is a lot trickier. It seems like you get better color blending and tones when you can have more colors in smaller areas. I’m interested in trying your gesso technique – just cause I’ve never used gesso. I love how there are just so many possibilities for sharing, learning, and creating. Off to the stamp camp info next to see what that’s all about 🙂

  170. Fab video. Loved the patchwork technique and the stamped background. The painty mess looks delicious. Would not have thought to try wet paint with wet ink. Off to find more videos and your follow button……

I have thought the minis were cute, but up till now felt I could live without them. Well, leave it to May to change my mind. Of course winning a set would be real fine as well as winning a seat in your class. Yes, I have taken Camp Scrap before, but depending on my upcoming cervical and lumbar surgeries, I plan to take it again. I really need that special motivation you provide in your classes to get my mojo going again. Here I have this beautiful new scrap room and I am hardly ever in it. I know it will all pick up again with just the right spark.
