Girls’ Paperie: christmas cupcake

The Girls’ Paperie is releasing a Christmas line, and when I saw it I nearly cried. It’s SO PERFECT!!! I love each and every single piece. So, I wanted to make a paper cupcake with this line, but I’ve yet to figure out HOW – and make it work. If I am ever successful, I’ll let you know. So far my attempts are so NOT like my mental vision. But I tell you what did work out…

I took a mini-muffin tin and decorated it. I can not WAIT to be able to hang this on my wall for Christmas! A Fiskars drill (operated by hand – no batteries or cords required) drilled holes for my ribbon hanger. Then I used some circles of patterned paper, a whole lot of PPA by USArt Quest (my liquid sealant/adhesive/all around kick ass go-to medium for stuff like this), and had fun…

This would be SO EASY for you to recreate. Honestly you can’t go wrong. I used stamps + staz-on ink to decorate the tin itself, then more PPA and stickers and glitter…

This line of product is pure Christmas MAGIC I tell you – and I want more to play with and enjoy right away. I also want to start decorating for Christmas because I want to do more projects like this. *LOVE* it.

The vintage + classic colors + warm and fuzzies that I get just being near this line all have me wanting more!!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my week of projects – these are all at CHA (Craft & Hobby trade show in Chicago) right now, I can’t wait for them to come back home to me. I’m sure they’re having fun living it up in the Girls’ Paperie booth though. I would be!

Girls’ Paperie: Happy Girl layout

When I went to work on something with On Holiday papers from the Girls’ Paperie I wanted to do something that wasn’t vacation themed. I wanted to use those reds, blues, and creams for just an everyday page…

I was a happy girl playing with all the bits and pieces…

My new favorite trick is making “banners” – not the kind like at the top left corner, but like under my title (happy). I think you’ll see a lot more of those from me in the future.

For right now, I’m taking my happy girl out shopping for Kindergarten clothes. Fashion is quite important in this young lady’s life and I’m glad that we can enjoy getting her all outfitted for the start of her real school career…

Girls’ Paperie: what’s in the box?

I love vintage. I love Christmas. I love the tinsel & twig line by the Girls’ Paperie that is making it’s debut at CHA right now. I can’t wait to have the whole line in my hands!

I sat and watched TV with Jason as I curled and formed this bow. REALLY easy- you just need a strong adhesive (Crafty Power Tape is great) and the ability to make a loop of paper, adhere, and flatten a bit.

To make the box (yes, I MADE it, didn’t just cover some other box) I drew a “T” of 3″ squares (three across, four up/down) that when folded made the box. If you do this – just be sure to leave some excess paper as “tabs” here and there. It’s easy I swear.  For now – just look at that trim. those patterns. *sigh* I LOVE this stuff!!

When I finished I said “BAM!” to Jason and he replied that he is never surprised. He clarified that what he means is, I never surprise him with the ideas that take root in my creative brain. Truly nice words… and a project I’ll be doing a TON for this Christmas!!

more projects from the girls’ paperie CHA booth to be posted all week… I hope you enjoy!

Girls’ Paperie: Toil & Trouble

When I got the new Girls’ Paperie line samples to work with, I nearly fainted. It’s just SO lovely. Even if you don’t celebrate Halloween- most of the product is not “theme-y” so you could use it for anything.

Still – since I LOVE scrapbooking Halloween and didn’t have any pictures ready to scrabook (but had a line to work with and a deadline!) I had to improvise. I decided to bribe Becca to get in one of E’s old Halloween costumes and eat chocolate.

It wasn’t that hard to bribe her, and soon I had some orange + black cutie pie photos to work with…

… not to mention some of the insanely CUTEST product ever.

I pulled out a trick from long ago – I taught a class (2o03? 2004?) a long time ago where I made a pumpkin from paper and placed photos on it. I dare say this one is WAY better than the original!!

All that stitching, the lacy details, the glitter… this page was pure heaven to make. I am already looking forward to making some decorations with this line of papers AND scrapbooking my 2010 pictures with it. Waiting is going to be hard.

{stay tuned – more from the girls’ paperie all week!}

Girls’ Paperie: bird house

I’m all about detail. Even though most of my scrapbooking these days is more “quick and not so hard” it doesn’t mean I don’t love to do a project that is both time consuming and requires some precision. Something where crooked just won’t cut it.

Being on the girls’ paperie design team is such an honor – and when I set out to start making projects for their CHA booth I felt overwhelmed. So, I reached for a tiny birdhouse and the adorable paper girl line and just started to play. I decided the die cut birdie needed a house…

Way too many hours, several days, and a lot of sticky fingers later I would up with this. I love it.

What I love most is that I made the time to do something creative and highly detailed just for the love of it. Nobody told me I had to spend hours on a tiny birdhouse… I just WANTED TO. And I did. And I felt good for it.

In fact, I felt more energized and inspired after taking such care and time on this. Not only do I want to make a ‘gingerbread’ house now, but I am looking to re-instate more detail back into some of my other craft endeavours as well. I need to do this more often – make something entirely because I can and because I feel like it that has no real purpose or need.

I wish you all happy crafting.

note: all week I will be sharing my projects for the Girls’ Paperie CHA booth. I hope you enjoy each one!
